Former player Sanjay Manjrekar hailed Jasprit Bumrah for leading India to a win in the first Test against Australia in Perth. He mentioned that the visiting team wouldn’t have been able to beat the hosts if the speedster had been absent from the team. The right-arm pacer took 8 wickets and was named the Player of the Match after India registered a 295-run win over the rivals.
The head of the bowling unit took three wickets each with a new ball across both innings, which didn’t allow the Aussies to get into the groove. He removed the top-order batters, and Australia couldn’t recover from the setbacks. “India would not have been able to beat Australia if Jasprit Bumrah had not been on the team due to injury concerns or other issues. He is the main reason, as he took key wickets.
“I know Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, and Nitish Kumar Reddy scored runs, but it wouldn’t have been useful if Australia were not bowled out for 104 runs in reply to India’s 150 in the first innings.
“Bumrah took five wickets in the first innings, and Australia were on the back foot from there on. He is a special player and can win matches single-handedly for the country. Bumrah is the biggest match-winner at the moment,” he said on Star Sports.
