Rishabh Pant emulated legendary wicket-keeper MS Dhoni on Day 2 of the Brisbane Test after he grabbed the catch of the left-handed Usman Khawaja on Sunday, December 15. With this, Pant has recorded 150 dismissals as a wicketkeeper for the India National Cricket team in the longest format of the game.
Pant, who returned to international cricket after a long injury layoff, has been impressive across formats. He took an easy catch of Khawaja to give Bumrah his first wicket of the match. Bumrah also dismissed Nathan McSweeney to put India in the driving seat.
Pant has 135 catches and 15 stumpings as a wicket-keeper. Dhoni is number one on the list with 294 dismissals, including 256 catches and 38 stumpings. Syed Kirmani is second with 198 dismissals, laced with 160 catches and 38 stumpings. Pant is the third best and will be looking to go past Kirmani’s numbers.
Kiran More amassed 130 dismissals (110 catches and 20 stumpings) and Nayan Mongia accumulated 107 dismissals (99 catches and 8 stumpings) complete the top five.
