Former Australia player and the current head coach of Lucknow Super Giant, Justin Langer, doesn’t know whether to feel happy or concern about the attacking batting approach of the likely captain Rishabh Pant. LSG bought him for INR 27 crore at the mega auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Langer commented on Day 5 of the fourth Test between Australia and India at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
The southpaw was sensational with the bat during the previous tour of Australia but the same consistency is missing this time around. The Aussie pacers have worked on his weaknesses and are not giving easy deliveries to free his hands.
Rishabh is facing massive flak for his reckless shot selection, with former players warning him of consequences as Dhruv Jurel is waiting in the wings.
“I will be coaching him in a couple of months and I don’t know whether I would be related or on the edge of my seat during the Indian Premier League,” he said.
Langer also give importance suggestion to Pant.
“He will have to play percentage cricket and can still be aggressive. If I were Rishabh Pant, I would like to hit straight,” he added.
Meanwhile, Sunil Gavaskar demanded a change a Rishabh Pant’s batting if he doesn’t improve as a batter. He thinks Pant should be demoted to the lower order.
