Wasim Akram was left embarrassed with the way Pakistan lost two consecutive Test matches against Bangladesh at home. Pakistan were thumped 0-2 by the visiting side.
The loss by 10 wickets in the first Test was Pakistan’s first-ever defeat to Bangladesh in the five-day format. The second game had a similar story as the Shan Masood team was undone by six wickets.
Pakistan’s declaration at 448/6 in the opening game back-fired. They were bowled out for 146 in the second innings, giving a target of 30 runs to Bangladesh.
Bangladesh were 26/6 in the first innings of the second Test but managed to post more than 260. Pakistan were then dismissed for 172 in the second innings.
“It is a big setback for Pakistan, and our cricket is at a crossroads. As a former cricketer and lover of cricket, I was left embarrassed with the way we lost from good positions. I don’t get it. We are losing on a consistent basis at home, and that says a lot about the quality of Pakistan cricket,” Wasim Akram told AFP.
Akram further said that there is a lack of talent in Pakistan domestic cricket, and it leaves the team with no proper backup options in case of injuries or poor form of the leading players.
Pakistan will play a three-match Test series against England, starting October 7 at home.
