A woman has taken to TikTok to share her nightmare flight experience, where she found herself sandwiched between a husband and wife who were constantly talking over her and passing food through her personal space.

Malia Makaila, who boasts a following of more than 446,000 on the video-sharing platform, revealed in a clip that has been viewed nearly 180,000 times how the couple’s incessant chatter and disregard for her personal space made her journey unbearable.

In addition to this, the passenger seated in front of her had reclined their seat to such an extent that it was impossible for her to open her laptop. To add insult to injury, the plane’s Wi-Fi was also out of service, making it a truly hellish journey.

Over the video, Malia wrote: “I’m on a flight sitting in an economy plus middle seat in-between a husband and wife who purchased the aisle and window seat, and they’re just passing chips over me, having a full conversation.

“Meanwhile, the guy in front of me pushed his seat so far back I can’t open my laptop and the Wi-Fi doesn’t work.”

The video showed the husband’s hand reaching across her to pass something to his wife, who then reciprocated by passing ice cubes back to him – all through Malia’s personal space – while they continued their casual conversation. The clip also showed Malia’s laptop at an impossible-to-use angle due to the reclined seat in front of her.

In a follow-up clip, the couple could be heard discussing the weather, prompting Malia to write: “Now they’re talking about the weather?”

The video concludes with Malia looking visibly perturbed, captioning the moment: “I’m just wondering if there is such a thing as plane etiquette because I don’t think they learned it?”

In the comments, reactions varied, with one viewer stating: “I would’ve asked them again if they wanted to sit together or stop passing/conversing over me.” Some commenters suggested the couple might have intentionally booked separate window and aisle seats for more space.

Another commenter was adamant: “I would never let them pass things in between me.” Echoing the sentiment, another added: “Passing anything that could damage that laptop. I’d be livid.”
