“I call him Boom Boom and not the rest of the bowlers”: Basit Ali lauds Jasprit Bumrah
Former Pakistan batter Basit Ali has lauded Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah for his ability to take wickets on any surface. Bumrah is considered as the best pacer in the world.
The 30-year-old has taken 397 wickets in 195 matches for India in all formats of the game. Bumrah was the Player of the Tournament in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, with India lifting the trophy.
“Even if Bumrah bowls on a cement pitch, he can deceive the batters. That’s why I call him Boom Boom and not the other bowlers. The rest of the pacers depend on their form,” he said.
“He takes wickets in all the spells. If the first spell gives him one wicket, then he dismisses three batters in his next spell. He has an accurate, slower one. He picks up Test wickets on the deliveries that you see bowlers bowling in white-ball cricket. It is something special,” he added.
Bumrah was rested after the T20 World Cup triumph. He didn’t play matches against Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka. The right-arm pacer will return for the first Test against Bangladesh, starting 19 September 19 in Chennai.
