The IPL 2025 mega-auction will be a two-day affair in Saudi Arabia. The Board of Control for Cricket in India has announced the two sets of marquee players. Rishabh Pant, who was released by Delhi Capitals ahead of the bidding process, will be in demand. The southpaw is likely to breach 20-crore mark. Former Chennai Super Kings player Suresh Raina feels Pant will get INR Rs 25-30 crore.
“He was a (DC) captain and a star player. His wicket-keeping skills are magnificent. Pant is good for endorsements and his brand value is on a higher side. He should get 25-30 crore in the auction,” he Told the Times of India.
“Rishabh has that attitude to win the IPL trophy with any franchise. He tried hard with Delhi Capitals. Shreyas Iyer was not retained by KKR and the same thing happened with KL Rahul, who was allowed to leave by Lucknow Super Giants. Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Punjab Kings, Delhi and Lucknow are looking for an Indian captain,” he added.
Rishabh played his first IPL game with Delhi Capitals (DC) in 2016. He was retained twice by the Delhi-based franchise.
Rishabh replaced Shreyas Iyer as Delhi captain 2021. He wanted to stay with Delhi but the team management and the owners decided against it.
Mitchell Starc, who was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for INR 24.75 crore in IPL 2024, is the most expensive player in the history of the tournament.
