Gujarat Titans hit by bowling crisis, says former SRH coach

Former Australian all-rounder Tom Moody raised concerns about the Gujarat Titans’ (GT) bowlers losing form at a crucial time in the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL). On May 25, GT were defeated by MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in their final league match, held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

CSK posted an imposing total of 230 for five. The only standout performance among the GT bowlers came from Prasidh Krishna, who recorded excellent figures of 4-0-22-2. Unfortunately, the rest of the GT bowling attack struggled to assert control over the Chennai batters. Arshad Khan, the left-arm fast bowler, went for 42 runs in just two overs, with Ayush Mhatre particularly taking him to task.

Moody, the former head coach of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), commented that most of GT bowlers are still looking to regain their best form.

“It’s concerning that their bowlers are struggling to find form at such a crucial time. As you approach the finals, it’s vital to have complete confidence in your bowling attack, with each player taking ownership of their role, rather than looking over their shoulder. When I look at their bowling lineup, there’s really only one bowler who’s performing well, while the others are still trying to regain their rhythm,” Moody said during ESPNcricinfo’s Time Out show.

Sai Kishore, the left-arm spinner, has been steady with 15 wickets in 14 matches, but Moody said that even his form has declined recently. He highlighted that the GT bowlers have struggled to form key partnerships with the ball.

“Perhaps it’s a bit harsh on Sai Kishore, as I think he’s been fairly consistent, but it feels like his performances have been overshadowed by the others simply because they haven’t been able to establish the partnerships with the ball,” Moody added.
