Ever dreamed of leaving the UK and making a new life Mamma-Mia style on a gorgeous Greek island?

If you can’t leave the UK for good, you can always get a taste of the island lifestyle on a holiday to a beautiful Greek hotspot. Unfortunately, some Greek islands are a little hard to explore without using a car.

Luckily, that’s not the case for every island and there are some gorgeous spots that tourists can get around using just their own two feet.

So where are the most walkable Greek islands?

From a celebrity favourite where cars are banned to a hidden gem with stunning beaches, there’s a few beautiful islands that are perfectly walkable.

Koufonisia

Koufonisia includes three small islands – Ano Koufinisi, Kato Koufonisi and Keros. Ano Koufonisi has a fast-growing reputation for tourism but travellers will still find it fairly uncrowded.

Discover Greece described the Koufonisia islands as “tiny gems in the Cyclades” with “exotic beaches, friendly locals and great food”.

Ano Koufonisi is so small, that tourists can walk the whole island in just four hours and its gorgeous beaches are accessible on foot from one another.

Hydra

Loved by Leonard Cohen, Sophia Loren and Mick Jagger, Hydra is still a peaceful retreat despite its popularity among celebrities.

Perhaps the island’s serene nature can be attributed to its ban on cars. The only vehicles allowed on the island are rubbish trucks.

It’s easy to explore the island’s picturesque streets on foot and if you’re looking for a challenge – why not hike to the top of Mount Eros?

Antiparos

Close to Paros but slightly less well known, Antiparos is a gorgeous holiday island that’s easy to explore on foot.

Just 35 square kilometres, the island has some spectacular beaches and secluded coves despite its size.

It’s just a short hop on a ferry to reach Paros if you’re looking for a little more buzz on a Greek island holiday.
