Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir has been granted a big relief by the Delhi High Court as a trial court order was stayed, which ordered a fresh investigation into his alleged involvement in a cheating case concerning flat buyers.
Justice Manoj Kumar Ohri stayed the verdict of the Rouse Avenue Courts, which was passed on October 29.
According to the accusations, in July and August 2011, former India player Gambhir encouraged customers to invest in a house project called “Serra Bella” that was pushed and advertised by M/S Rudra Buildwell Realty Pvt. Ltd, M/S H R Infracity Pvt. Ltd, and M/S U M Architectures and Contractors Ltd.
Gambhir was unhappy with the trial court’s judgment and knocked on the doors of the High Court.
Gautam is currently in Australia with India National Cricket Team for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024. The visitors will play five test matches against the Pat Cummins-led unit.
The legendary cricketer is facing massive flak after India lost 0-3 against New Zealand. Earlier, Sri Lanka thumped India by a margin of 2-0 in the ODIs to register their first series victory over the Men in Blue after 27 years.
However, Sourav Ganguly has backed the struggling coach, urging everyone to allow him to settle down. He also supported Gambhir in his ongoing verbal slugfest with Ricky Ponting.
