Team India’s squad for the Sri Lanka tour has sparked controversy. Abhishek Sharma and Ruturaj Gaikwad, who performed well in the T20I series in Zimbabwe, were dropped, while Kuldeep Yadav’s exclusion from the T20I team has been questioned. He was one of the best Indian bowlers in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
Ajit Agarkar-led selection panel went ahead with Ravi Bishnoi and Washington Sundar. The BCCI didn’t reveal any reason for Kuldeep’s absence.
Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra was stunned by the decision.
“It is surprising that Kuldeep Yadav’s name is not on the T20I team. He just contributed to Team India’s win in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. He is going with the ODI team. I have no idea why he is missing from the shortest format team,” Chopra said.
Ravindra Jadeja, who retired from T20Is, was not picked for the fifty-over games. It seems his ODI career is over, and the selectors are looking for other options.
“Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravindra Jadeja are also missing from the team. Jadeja retired from T20Is, but he is not in ODIs. What’s happening there?” he added.
