A clip of former India all-rounder Sanjay Bangar’s son Aryan’s transformation from male to female following a hormone replacement procedure is doing the rounds on social media. Aryan has now become Anaya.
The 23-year-old cricketer shared a video on Instagram capturing the transformation journey from 2016 to the present. The video includes moments from 2016 to date. In some of the pictures, he is seen with his father, Virat Kohli, and legendary captain MS Dhoni.
“It was not easy to play cricket, as the journey was filled with sacrifices and dedication. From early morning sessions to facing doubts and judgments of others, every step needed strength,” Ananya captioned the now-deleted video.
“I went through another journey of self-discovery and the challenges it carried. I had to make tough choices to become what I wanted. I am also proud to be a part of the sport I love in my authentic self. The road hasn’t been easy, but I kept moving forward, and finding my true self has been the greatest victory of my life,” she added.
Ananya lives in Manchester and expressed disappointment with ICC’s move to ban transgender athletes from playing women’s cricket.
Meanwhile, Sanjay Bangar played 12 Tests and 15 ODIs for India. He scored 407 runs and took 7 wickets in red-ball games. The veteran amassed 180 runs and dismissed seven batters in one-day internationals.
