EasyJet launches new flights to African town begging for more tourists | Travel News | Travel

Easyjet is launching new flights to a beautiful town in Africa that is in much need of tourists to boost its economy. 

The popular airline company will soon be launching flights to Enfidha, in north-eastern Tunisia, in spring 2025 from London Stansted Airport and London Southend Airport. 

Ali Gayward, easyJet’s UK Country Manager said while announcing the new routes: “We are delighted to be putting 10 new routes on sale from our new base at London Southend Airport, which we look forward to opening spring.

“Our continued growth and investment in the UK highlights the importance of this market and provides UK consumers with even more choice, with our customers choosing our flights and holidays for our trusted brand, unrivalled network and great value fares.

“We have flown over seven million customers from London Southend since we started our operation there in 2012 and, whether they are flying for business or leisure, we look forward to welcoming even more of them onboard.”

The airline already has a few flights running from Glasgow to Enfidha. Flights to Enfidha took off from the Scottish airport in May last year. 

According to the company, flights from London Southend to Enfidha will operate three times a week from March 30 on Mondays, Fridays and Sundays with fares now available from £34.13 (flights one way per person including taxes).

Located in the northeastern part of Tunisia, Enfidha boasts of rich history and culture but is not as popular as other coastal cities like Hammamet or Sousse. 

Enfidha is often visited by tourists heading to nearby beach resorts or using the airport for travel to various destinations in Tunisia. 

The town is almost 24 miles south of the city of Sousse. 

It sits near the coast of the Mediterranean Sea and is mostly known for agriculture. The proximity to the coast has also allowed for a small fishing industry, as well as some tourism. 

A major feature of Enfidha is the Enfidha-Hammamet International Airport, which opened in 2009. This modern airport serves as a crucial hub for international tourists arriving to the area, especially to the resorts of Hammamet and other nearby towns.

It helps facilitate tourism and commerce by connecting Tunisia to Europe and other regions.

Those visiting Enfidha can also take some time to visit nearby tourist cities, including Hammamet and Sousse.

Visitors willing to travel a bit further can visit Carthage and the capital city of Tunis, which are located just a few hours away. These cities boast archaeological sites and vibrant urban life.
