Brad Haddin warns Punjab Kings players ahead of RCB match
After successfully defending the lowest total in Indian Premier League (IPL) history against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Punjab Kings (PBKS) assistant coach Brad Haddin, in a pre-match press conference, shared that the victory against KKR had boosted the team’s confidence. He feels the players now have a strong belief that they can secure victories from any situation.
“I believe it reinforces everything we’re working towards. The players are beginning to have confidence in the approach. Wins like the one we had the other night, where we fought our way back into the game, are significant. The players now believe they can secure a win from any situation.”
Haddin encouraged the players to focus and stick to their game plan once they’re on the field.”You have to be brave to go deep in this tournament , and that’s the mindset we want our players to adopt.”
Nevertheless, Haddin urged caution, warning his team not to repeat the same mistakes made in the previous match against KKR, where they were dismissed for just 111 runs.
The 47-year-old PBKS coach stated, “One of our key strengths is our dynamic batting line-up. We want our players to enter the game with a clear mindset. Each player understands their role, and they know that if they execute properly, they can dominate the opposition. As coaches, it’s crucial for us to give them the freedom to do so.”
Brad added, “They train hard, do everything required, and are well-prepared. But once they’re out there, it’s all about clearing their minds and executing their plans. To go far in this tournament, you need to be brave, and that’s the mentality we want our players to adopt.”
PBKS Gears Up for Clash Against RCB
The 2014 IPL runner-up will next take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in their upcoming encounter. Currently, PBKS sit in fourth place, while RCB occupy third place in the IPL 2025 points table. As the team prepares for this crucial match, the former Australia wicketkeeper-batter stressed the need for the players to adjust to varying conditions.
He explained, “When the conditions change, the key is to trust your game, and everyone has their own approach to adapting. Some players will be aggressive, hitting the ball in the air or attacking it. The most important thing we’ve emphasized to our players is that they must fully understand their role and how it fits into their game.”
He concluded, “We have a clear game plan and a specific style of play that we want to follow, but it’s crucial that each player understands their own strengths. That way, they can confidently take charge of the game when the opportunity arises.”
