“Blood and sweat cannot co-exist”: Harbhajan Singh opines on India playing Pakistan in Asia Cup 2025

Former spinner Harbhajan Singh is not pleased with the Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI) for agreeing to play in the Men’s Asia Cup and competing against Pakistan despite recent tension between the two countries. After the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor, the citizens want India to boycott Pakistan in every field. It was speculated that India would say no to the Asia Cup, but everyone was surprised when the schedule was announced.
There is a possibility of the two arch-rivals meeting thrice in the tournament. The group stage match is on September 14, and if India and Pakistan make it to the second round, they are likely to meet in the Super 4 and final.
Recently, Harbhajan Singh and other Indian players refused to play against Pakistan in the World Championship of Legends (WCL).
India Champions also pulled out of the semi-final against Pakistan. Bhajji spoke to The Times of India about India playing Pakistan in the Asia Cup.
“They will have to think about what is important and what is not. For me, the soldier who safeguards our border is important that cricket. Skipping matches is a small matter,” Harbhajan told TOI.
“Blood and sweat can’t co-exist, and our government has the same stance. We can’t play cricket when there is tension between India and Pakistan. Until the issues are resolved, cricket can take a back seat,” he added.

Harbhajan stated that the nation comes first, and there is no need to play matches against Pakistan.
“Whether you are a player, an actor or anyone else, the country deserves importance. Not playing cricket is a small thing,” he mentioned.
“Our brothers are protecting us. Tte soldiers sometime don’t even return home. We should salute their courage instead of playing cricket.”
He also urged the media to stop giving the limelight to Pakistani statements.
“Our media will have to stop giving importance to Pakistan. It is better if you stop showing them. Media shouldn’t add fuel to the fire. Pakistan can say what they want but we shouldn’t highlight them,” he concluded.
