ICC is trying its best to resolve the issues between the PCB and BCCI over the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, but it seems there will be more delay before a final solution. The ICC proposed a hybrid model to the PCB in the board members’ meeting. According to the report, the PCB will keep two conditions to accept the hybrid model for the global tournament.
The PCB wants the ICC to give in writing that all Pakistan games in ICC events in India will be played at a neutral venue. The board also wants an increase in its revenue share from the apex body. It was expected that the ICC and BCCI would give the go-ahead, but as per a report in CricketPakistan, the BCCI is not comfortable accepting the formula.
If Pakistan’s demands are accepted, the final of any ICC tournament in India will be played outside the country if Pakistan qualify for the summit clash. The report in CricketPakistan revealed that the Indian Cricket Board cited Sunday as a reason for the delay from their side, following the closures of offices in the UAE on Monday and Tuesday.
“We have come up with a fair solution. If India refuse, they cannot expect us to play there in the future. If the ICC events are held in India, Pakistan should be allowed to play their matches or finals in Dubai, ensuring fairness,” a PCB source was quoted in the report.
The broadcasters will meet in Dubai on Thursday, and the ICC must come up with a schedule for the Champions Trophy. The schedule was supposed to be announced in November, but the BCCI’s refusal to play in Pakistan led to a delay.
