Australia suffer major setback as Josh Hazlewood ruled out of T20I series, replacment announced
Australia fast bowler Josh Hazlewood has been ruled out of the three-match T20I series against Scotland due to a calf injury sustained during net session. Riley Meredith has been added to the team after his impressive performance for Somerset in the T20 Blast and One-Day Cup in England.
Hazlewood’s injury is not serious and the seamer is expected to play the white-ball series against England. Hazlewood will also be needed for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Earlier, Australia’s left-arm pacer Spencer Johnson was ruled out of the games against Scotland and England. Sean Abbott was named as his replacement.
Australia have rested star bowlers for the tour of Scotland. Zavier Bartlett, Nathan Ellis, and Aaron Hardie have a chance to impress the selectors.

Riley Meredith last T20I came in 2021
Riley Meredith can clock 150kmph consistently and was among the wickets with the Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League (BBL). He was signed by Punjab Kings (PBKS) for IPL 2021 and played his first game for Australia in the same year.
He has competed in one one-day international and five T20Is for the Aussies. The right-arm fast bowler has taken eight wickets in the shortest format. He last played against the West Indies. Australia’s tour of Scotland will start on September 4.
