India are on the back foot in the third Test against Australia at the Gabba. They were 52/4 in reply to Australia’s first innings total of 445 with two days left in the contest. The hosts would have been bowled out had rain no come to their rescue. On 13.2 overs were bowled on Day 1, and the number increased to 88 on the next day. The third day was again impacted by the downpour.
For India, Jasprit Bumrah took 6 wickets and was the only bowler who challenged the home team. The visiting team had a shocking star, with Yashasvi Jaiswal (4) departing in the first over. Shubman Gill (1), Virat Kohli (3), and Rishabh Pant (9) were back in the dressing room in no time. Mitchell Starc took Jaiswal and Gill’s scalps, while Josh Hazelwood and Pat Cummins got rid of Kohli and Pant.
Michael Vaughan, who has reached Australia to work as a commentator, revealed the biggest difference between the two teams.
“Australia have three world-beaters, Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, and Mitchell Starc, while India have got just one in the form of Jasprit Bumrah. He hasn’t received support from the other bowlers. We saw the same issue in Adelaide is well.
“On the other hand, Australian seamers are genuine wicket-takers and they will not give India easy scoring opportunities. They will always be at you throughout the match,” he said.
