Aakash Chopra has lauded Team India’s opener Yashasvi Jaiswal for scoring a century in the first innings of the second Test against England. He was impressed with Jaiswal’s conversation rate in international cricket.
Jaiswal was on 179 off 257 deliveries in Visakhapatnam on Friday (February 2) as India posted 336/6. He was unbeaten with Ravichandran Ashwin and will hope to complete his maiden Test double century on Day 2.
Chopra highlighted Jaiswal’s ability to convert half-centuries into centuries.
“Yashasvi Jaiswal batted beautifully. He handled James Anderson perfectly. He left the deliveries bowled by the legendary pacer,” Aakash Chopra said.
“He hit boundaries against spinners and demonstrated that he is a special player. Yashasvi Jaiswal has a magnificent conversation rate of fifties into hundreds. He is even above Sir Don Bradman,” he added.
Among cricketers who have hit at least 10 centuries in first-class cricket, Jaiswal’s conversion rate of 73.33% is the best. He has scored 2435 runs at an average of 76.09 in 21 first-class matches, including the second Test against England, with the help of 11 centuries and four half-centuries.
