Virat Kohli was in form in the IPL 2025 first match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Eden Gardens. Despite the aggressive batting of his new opening partner, Phil Salt, Kohli didn’t play a waiting game. He hit fours and sixes to score his runs at an impressive strike rate. Virat has faced criticism for his slow batting in the shortest format, but he was in top gear from the first ball of his innings.
Shikhar Dhawan, who played with Virat for Team India, hailed the star batter of RCB for his magnificent batting display against the defending champions KKR. The right-handed batter smashed his 56th fifty in the 400th T20 game of his career.
“400th T20 match and a match-winning fifty. He is a big-match player. It was an important match for RCB, and Virat Kohli delivered with the bat. He is alone enough to score runs for the team. Kohli is a genius, and he is in form at the moment,” Shikhar Dhawan said on Star Sports.
Virat managed an unbeaten 59 runs off 36 balls, with the help of 4 fours and 3 sixes, as RCB completed the chase of 175 runs in 16.2 overs with 7 wickets in hand.
