Anil Kumble stressed that Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) can only fix their problems at home if they can figure out how to play on the Chinnaswamy pitch properly. Speaking ahead of RCB’s match against the Rajasthan Royals on Thursday, April 24, Kumble noted that the team has played three home games but is winless.
Their home form is in sharp contrast to their away record, in which they have won every match. RCB skipper Rajat Patidar acknowledged the difficulties of the challenging ground, but emphasised that they should not use it as a reason for their defeat at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
“Batting first at the Chinnaswamy Stadium hasn’t been their strong point. Assessing the pitch is really crucial, but they have struggled to do that while batting first,” Anil Kumble said on JioHotstar Expert.
Kumble added that RCB must assess the pitch and post a challenging target if they bat first.
At home, RCB have endured crushing defeats against the Gujarat Titans, Delhi Capitals, and Punjab Kings. They will now face the Rajasthan Royals, who will be without the injured Sanju Samson.
Earlier, RCB won by 9 wickets in Jaipur. Virat Kohli, Phil Salt, and Devdutt Padikkal played exceptionally well.
With 10 points from 8 games, RCB are currently in fourth place. If they beat Rajasthan, they could move up to second place.
