Todd Blue Really, Really Likes Collecting Blue Cars

A gorgeous Riviera Blue Porsche 911 Carrera RS 3.8 is among the cars being sold and may fetch as much as $950,000

RM Sotheby’s has been tasked with selling a slew of prized cars from the collection of Todd Blue, who is behind LAPIS Automotive and has operated several exotic car dealerships across the United States. Fittingly, Todd Blue has a thing for blue cars and each of the nine vehicles he’s selling with the auction house are painted that color, although there are many different hues.

The single most prized car from the collection is a 2019 Porsche 911 GT2 RS with the optional Weissach package. It is expected to sell for between $800,000 and $1.2 million and features $252,000 worth of options from Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur.

Immediately making the car stand out is an Albert Blue paint scheme that’s been matched with staggered wheels. The interior is also bathed in Yachting Blue leather with Graphite Madraskaro plaid seat inserts and Silver Grey seatbelts. Adding to the car’s desirability is the fact it has been driven just 526 miles (846 km).

Another epic car from the collection is a 1996 Porsche 911 Carrera RS 3.8. It’s painted in Riviera Blue and is one of just 1,104 examples ever produced. It has 8,725 miles (14,041 km) on the odometer and could sell for as much as $950,000. The collection also includes a 2023 Porsche 911 Sport Classic. It is painted in Manaus Blue with color-matched wheels and has more than $111,000 worth of options. RM Sotheby’s says it’s been driven just 1,177 miles (1,894 km) and could sell for between $500,000 and $650,000.

Not to be overshadowed, a 1994 Porsche 968 Turbo S in Midnight Blue Metallic is also up for sale. One of only 13 ever built, this low-mileage beauty could sell for as much as $750,000, which might be worth considering if you’re a fan of rare and quirky Porsches.

And, of course, no collection would be complete without a couple of classic Mercedes-Benzes. The first is a 1970 280 SE 3.5 Cabriolet, expected to fetch between $350,000 and $450,000. The second is a 560 SL from 1988, which might seem a little more affordable at around $85,000.
