The Weirdest Mustang You’ll Ever See Is Actually A Porsche 911

Modern car culture has a way of producing creations that defy easy description. We’ve reported on everything from heavily modified drop tops to hacked-up everyday cars. Body swaps get their own category in the fray, and while some are extremely refined, others are a bit more obvious. This 1966 Ford Mustang / 2008 Porsche 911 mashup belongs to the latter category and you can buy it for a cool $19,500.

At first glance, this might sound like a hot-rodder’s fever dream as it combines Porsche handling, interior luxuries, and a very cool exterior in one package. In reality, the proportions have most viewers wondering how the project ever got this far. The 911 is three full inches wider than the Mustang and has a wheelbase that is 15.5 inches shorter.
Stretching the Shape
To make the two cars fit together, the builder had to push the front wheel arches dramatically rearward, leaving the coupe with a comically long front overhang; think Borzoi-level snoot. This pony car looks like it’s reaching out for a sugar cube. The awkward proportions don’t stop there, though.
This is a 911 under the sheet metal, so the fuel filler cap needs to fit on the front fender. That piece is odd to begin with, and the filler just so happens to need to be where the arch already is. The fenders at each corner have huge flares to encompass the much wider Porsche frame and track. It’s unclear how the builder fabricated the cooling system, but it would be fascinating to discover.
Porsche Where It Counts
Not every bit of this build seems like a poorly executed idea. The interior, for one, looks great. It’s almost completely Porsche, so that’s a big plus. The chassis only has 53,000 miles (85,295 kilometers) on it and the stock engine makes around 380 horsepower that are sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox.
The seller does point out that the “interior/frunk needs finish work,” but the biggest stuff is all done here. Is this a good purchase? Can’t say for sure, but if your goal is to turn heads faster than you can handle corners, this Mustang-slash-911 is a great bet.
