- Powered by a 270 cc gas engine, the F-Racer Junior can reach 35 mph.
- While some body details look nice, certain proportions appear way off.
- RM Sotheby’s expects it to fetch between $30,000 and $50,000 at auction.
What does this pint-sized supercar replica have that a genuine Ferrari F40 doesn’t? Well, in addition to it being a convertible, this is far more affordable than the real deal, particularly since some pristine examples are now selling for over $3 million.

Known as the F-Racer Junior, this miniaturized F40 was built back in 1992 and is one of just 10 units ever assembled in this configuration. It’s been painted in black, an exceptionally rare color on a real F40, and it’s sized just right for two children or a single adult looking to relive their childhood at a smaller scale.
Small scale, real power
Powering the F-Racer is a 270 cc (0.3-liter) gas engine, and while there’s no word on how much power it has, it’s reportedly enough to send the car to 35 mph (56 km/h). That’s obviously not enough to take this thing out on the open road, but it is more than adequate for cruising along the sidewalk, or perhaps racing around a golf course.
Some parts of the car do a good job of replicating a real F40, including the plexiglass engine cover and the rear wing. However, some components do look rather odd, particularly the curved rear decklid, the tiny pea-shooter exhausts, and the cheap-looking taillights. Impressively, the car does include hydraulic disc brakes at all four corners, an independent suspension, and even a rear differential.

Inside, the cabin is stripped down to essentials. There’s a flat-bottom steering wheel, simple carpeting, a dash accented with carbon fiber trim, and a pair of functional gauges.
Exclusivity comes at a price
While it’s true the F-Racer Junior is much more affordable than an F40, that doesn’t mean it’s cheap. Quite the opposite, in fact. RM Sotheby’s is handling the sale of the car and expects it to sell for between $30,000 and $50,000. That’s enough to buy a new, life-sized car, like a Ford Mustang or a BMW 3-Series.
Still, if you’ve ever dreamed of owning an F40 but your wallet screams in protest, this pint-sized pretender might be your loophole. It’s fast enough to make the neighbors stare and small enough to park in your living room. Check out the listing here before someone’s kid beats you to it.
