The Mini Aceman is almost ready to hit the roads, as proven by the lightly camouflaged prototypes of the EV-only crossover going through the last stages of development in the desert. The new model is expected to debut at the Auto China show on April 24, bridging the gap between the Cooper hatchback and the Countryman SUV.
As with earlier spy shots, the official gallery of development prototypes suggests that the production-spec Aceman is a tone-down version of the concept from 2022. The angular LEDs and taller body distinguish it from the Cooper, while the proportions are typical of Mini with short overhangs and a wraparound greenhouse.

The Aceman measures 4,075 mm (160.4 inches) long, 1,754 mm (69.1 inches) wide, and 1,495 mm (58.9 inches) tall. With a body that is 217 mm (8.5 inches) longer than the Cooper, it is expected to offer a more spacious five-seater cabin and a larger boot. At the same time, being 354 mm (13.9 inches) shorter than the family-friendly Countryman will make it more nimble and agile.
Unlike the rest of the Mini lineup which offers the option between ICE and BEV powertrains, the Aceman will be exclusively offered in fully electric form. The automaker confirmed that the new crossover will have a battery capacity of 54.2 kWh, matching the Cooper SE. Likewise, we expect the single electric motor to produce 215 hp (160 kW / 218 PS) powering the front axle. It is safe to assume that Mini might also offer a JCW trim of the Aceman with sportier styling and chassis tweaks but no extra grunt, as with the mechanically related Cooper SE JCW.
Mini boss, Stefanie Wurst, said: “The all-electric Aceman opens new opportunities for customers who want a smaller crossover than our successful Countryman. The consistent electrification of our product portfolio makes a clear statement about the future of the Mini brand”.
According to the official press release, the Mini Aceman will be shown to the public in “just a few months”. Autocar is more precise, reporting that the debut will take place at the biennial Auto China show in Beijing on April 24. Production will commence in China towards the end of 2024, but the Aceman will also be produced at Mini’s Oxford plant in the UK starting in 2026.
