Lando Norris’s Ferrari F40 Crashed In Monaco

Just days after footage emerged showing the world’s highest-mileage Ferrari F40 being destroyed in a British crash, it’s been revealed that another famous F40 was recently crashed. This time it was the F40 owned by McLaren Formula 1 driver Lando Norris, although the F1 star wasn’t behind the wheel at the time.

The crash is believed to have happened earlier this month while Norris was celebrating the New Year in Dubai. Norris picked up the keys to the rare F40 late last year and has been spotted driving it around Monaco on several occasions. It’s unclear who was behind the wheel of the iconic Italian supercar while the Briton was away, but he may need to rethink who he lets drive the car in the future.

A video reposted to social media, and originally published by Thanosofmonaco on TikTok, appears to show the F40 being driven along the mountain roads near the Principality. After taking a left-hand bend, the rear of the F40 kicks out to the left on a straight stretch of road. The driver then appears to overcorrect and slam on the brakes, causing the car to pirouette to the right and slam into a crash barrier on the side of the road.

Fortunately – and unlike the F40 crashed in the UK – the damage to Norris’s car isn’t as bad. The damage appears limited to the rear bumper which took the brunt of the impact with the barrier. It’s possible the driver’s side rear wheel was also hit in the crash and may need to be replaced.

Much like the crash in the UK, this one may have been caused by the driver being a little too happy with the throttle. Unlike modern supercars, the F40 lacks safety nannies like traction and stability control. Its twin-turbocharged V8 is also known to have a particularly spiky powerband, and when the boost comes on, it comes on hard.
