Jaya Bachchan set for 5th Rajya Sabha term, has joint net worth of Rs 1,578 crore with Amitabh Bachchan

Veteran actress, Padma Shri awardee and politician Jaya Bachchan is all set for her fifth Rajya Sabha term as the Samajwadi Party has renominated her as its candidate for the Upper House from Uttar Pradesh.

The Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani star declared assets worth a staggering Rs 1,578 crore along with her husband and legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan.

According to an election affidavit filed by her, Jaya Bachchan’s personal net worth for the financial year 2022-23 stands at Rs 1,63,56,190 while Big B’s net worth is reported to be Rs 273,74,96,590 for a similar period.

While the immovable property of the couple, amounts to Rs 729.77 crore, the combined movable property is valued at Rs 849.11 crore.

In 2023, Jaya Bachchan grabbed the headlines while responding to the section of leaders who sparked a north-south debate expressed her delight and said, “I am so happy and I am so glad that we are discussing the most important ambassadors of this country. And they are the film folks. It doesn’t matter where they are from – north, east, south, or west – they are Indians. I stand here with pride and with dignity for our film fraternity, who have represented this country a number of times, and have won number of awards starting from Satyajit Ray onwards.”

“I want to say that this is the beginning and I want to thank the people of India for whose sake people from abroad are recognizing our people today,” she added.

Further naming filmmaker SS Rajamouli and one of RRR’s scriptwriters, KV Vijayendra Prasad, Mrs Bachchan further noted that it is a great honour to see so many people from the creative world being nominated in the House.
