These one-year-old luxury Grecale SUVs cost as much as a new VW Tiguan

- Hertz Car Sales is trying to offload some four-cylinder Maseratis at very low prices.
- Many are available for under $40,000 and with fewer than 15,000 miles.
- The rental company has been trying to get rid of these SUVs for months.
Depreciation was once a given, something we could always count on. But in recent years, that certainty has started to blur, unless, of course, you’re eyeing specific cars. Take the Maserati Grecale, for example, which Hertz is eager to unload for about 35 percent off. And honestly, that might be an understatement.
Before diving off the deep end, let’s first point out that yes, we’re talking about soon-to-be former rental cars. That means that there’s a good chance that they haven’t been driven with the utmost care and concern. Despite that, sometimes a great price is enough to overlook questionable previous care.

As of this writing, Hertz has almost 40 Grecales available nationwide. Seventeen of them are priced under $40,000, which is pretty wild for a car that originally stickered for at least $70,000 (before options). Out of those 17, two have fewer than 10,000 miles on the clock, and another eight are under 15,000 miles. Essentially, you’re looking at lightly used luxury SUVs for tens of thousands less than when they were fresh off the lot.
Even the most expensive examples available never crest $48,035. Notably, they’re of the Modena trim level, which benefited from additional horsepower, 20-inch wheels, an adaptive suspension, and more. On the flip side of the coin, the cheapest Grecale for sale at Hertz has 28,371 miles on the odometer and costs just $36,543. That’s Volkswagen Tiguan money for a luxury SUV with an exotic badge.
This isn’t all that shocking. In November of last year, Hertz was already trying to ditch these cars to the best of its ability. At the time, prices started at $41,000, and many had fewer than 20,000 miles on the clock. For those specifically in the market for this type of car, it was a good deal then and is an even better deal now.
Just as we pointed out back then, these are often tens of thousands more on the used-car market. At least, that’s the case when dealing with a traditional dealership or private party. This isn’t exactly the most sought-after luxury crossover, but at least it’s full of personality.
