He Thought His ‘WILL RUN’ Plate Was Funny Until The Cops Waited At His House

High-speed chases are probably the most dangerous regular part of a police officer’s job. That’s not just us saying it. Plenty of experts in law enforcement agree, but what they don’t all agree on is how to manage that danger. In some states, officers seem to chase suspects despite clearly endangering innocent citizens. Maybe the tactic just used to catch a motorcyclist in California needs to catch on.

We’ve seen lots of folks in plenty of vehicles and situations run from the police. The vast majority don’t get away, but those that do tend to have a great power-to-weight ratio in their weapon of choice.
Speed Isn’t Always an Advantage
Nowhere is that more apparent than in the case of motorcyclists who can hit triple-digit speeds in no time and slip through heavy traffic while leaving police cars behind. None of those advantages helped the rider of a Kawasaki Ninja 6R in Modesto, though.
Authorities trolled the rider on Instagram since he had a plate on his bike that read “Will Run.” In response, California Highway Patrol’s Modesto unit posted “Will Run – We’ll Wait.” What are they referring to?
Officers say that the rider of this bike initially led them on a high-speed pursuit on Monday night. Considering the inherent danger in chasing a rider like this at high speeds, ground units backed off. The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Air Support Unit took over from there.
It simply followed the rider all the way to his home in East Bay. At that point, ground units moved back in and arrested him. This is a great example of prioritizing safety while using the full extent of tools that law enforcement has at its disposal to still get the suspect in the end.

Most Suspects Slow Down Without Pressure
A study from the FBI indicates that the vast majority of those who flee from police say that “most fleeing suspects will return to safe driving behavior within a relatively short period of time after ground pursuits are terminated.” The video below shows just how much a skilled air unit can see.
