Flipkart exits Aditya Birla Fashion, Carlyle exits Indegene

Over ₹3,500 crore worth of block deals were transacted on the exchanges on Wednesday, with investors in two of the companies exiting their investments.
Ecommerce player Flipkart exited its entire 6 per cent stake in Aditya Birla Fashion & Retail while an affiliate firm of Carlyle exited pharma research firm Indegene.
The largest block deal during the day was that of CA Dawn Investments selling its entire 10.2 per cent stake in Indegene for a total of ₹1,447.2 crore in two tranches. It sold 16.8 crore shares at ₹591.02 a share and another block of 76.3 lakh shares at ₹591.84 each on the NSE, according to exchange data.
Carlyle had invested around $122 million in Indegene in April 2021.
The buyers included East Bridge Capital, Societe Generale, and a number of other funds, both global and local.
Shares of Indegene ended 4.1 per cent lower at ₹594.50 on the NSE.
Flipkart Investments exited its entire 6 per cent stake in Aditya Birla Fashion & Retail for close to ₹588 crore, selling its holding at ₹80.32 each. The e-commerce player had acquired around 7.8 per cent in ABFRL for ₹1,500 crore in 2020, at a time when it was marking its offline presence.
Shares of the fashion retailer fell over 10 per cent on the NSE to end at Rs 77.08. Some small broking firms picked up blocks of its shares.
TPG Rise sold 2.1 per cent stake of Tata Technologies for ₹749.10 on the BSE, the data showed. The private equity firm held over 6 per cent stake in the company at the end of March, having already sold 3.9 per cent stake in April, following a 3 per cent stake divestment in August last year.
Shares of Tata Tech fell around 1 per cent to settle at ₹759.65 on the BSE.
Jayanti Sinha, part of the promoter group, sold 1.4 per cent stake in Alkem Laboratories for nearly 829 crore at ₹4,874.61 each. She held 2.46 per cent stake in the company at the end of March.
Alkem shares ended 2.5 per cent lower at ₹4,867.40.
