Cadillac V-Series Teases Electric Future With The “Opulent Velocity” Concept
Cadillac wants its electric V-Series performance car to be luxurious and speedy
Cadillac is on a path to electrification, but that doesn’t mean the V-Series will have to die with its internal combustion performance cars. The brand just dropped the first teaser for its “Opulent Velocity” concept car.
The teaser was released just ahead of the 12 Hours of Sebring, where Cadillac revealed its first V-Series car exactly 20 years ago, and the concept names the two qualities V-Series wants most from it: luxury and speed.
Unfortunately, Cadillac is still playing its cards close to its chest and has revealed little about this new concept. The teaser video did provide some hints as to what it will look like though.

Although it can only be seen in blurry, high-speed shots, Cadillac’s distinctive vertical light signatures can be seen at the front and rear. The car also looks long, low, and wide, and, although it’s too early to say for sure, it looks like it might share its roofline with the ultra-fancy Celestiq.
Cadillac has yet to reveal any performance specs, but we know that GM’s EV platform is capable of up to 1,000 hp (746 kW / 1,014 PS) thanks to the GMC Hummer. That’s enough to get the 9,063-pound (4,111 kg) SUV up to 60 mph (96 km/h) in around three seconds, so impressive performance should not be an issue.
Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait until Cadillac fully unveils the concept to know what kind of performance the upcoming V-Series performance cars will offer.
“Opulent Velocity is designed to foreshadow a zero emissions expression of performance and modern luxury leadership,” said Bryan Nesbitt, executive director, Cadillac Global Design. “We will share more later this year, so stay tuned.”
