BMW Just Hiked Prices On Its Super Sedan And Wagon Without Adding Anything New
Company-wide BMW price hikes begin July 1, averaging around 1.9 percent across models.

Big cars often come with big numbers, and the BMW M5 is no exception. For the 2026 model year, the high-performance model that’s available in sedan and wagon guises not only maintains its outsized presence but also picks up a bigger price tag.
Now entering its second year on the US market, the M5 Touring will cost $123,900 before destination fees, which represents a 2 percent increase over the outgoing version. That’s a $2,400 bump, with no added features or upgrades to justify the difference.

Importantly, it is not just the M5 Touring that will soon cost shoppers a little more. New sales data also reveals that the price of the M5 Sedan is being increased by an additional $2,400 for 2026, meaning it’ll now start at $121,900 before destination. Once again, the price increase comes despite the standard equipment remaining unchanged.
Whether the higher price affects demand is still up in the air, though chances are buyers in this segment won’t flinch. According to BMW, the M5 Touring is now outselling the Sedan in the US, a surprising development, considering Americans typically steer clear of anything with a wagon silhouette.
On the global stage, BMW says it’s seeing “very, very high demand for the new M5,” which suggests the price bump hasn’t done much to put buyers off. Even with the increase, the M5 Touring still comes in below its closest rival, the Audi RS6 Avant. That car starts at $126,600 in the US, despite being largely unchanged since 2020 and still coasting on the same formula it’s been using for the past few years.
Other Price Hikes
As noted by Cars Direct, prices for virtually all BMW models are going up by 1.9% from July 1st. BMW hasn’t directly blamed President Trump’s tariffs for the price rises, but they are inevitably a key factor in the hikes.
Shoppers of the 2026 BMW X5 M Competition and X6 M Competition will both have to deal with the largest price increase of $2,500. The only exclusions from BMW’s 2026 line-up for price rises are the i5, i7, iX, 2-Series Gran Coupe, M2, and the Alpina XB7.
