Former India player Praveen Kumar has roasted Hardik Pandya for skipping the Ranji Trophy matches at a time when the Board of Control for Cricket in India didn’t offer central contracts to Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer for refusing to play red-ball games in domestic cricket.
Praveen questioned why Hardik Pandya is allowed to compete in only white-ball formats when the country needs him in Test cricket. He blamed the Indian cricket board for changing rules according to the needs and demands of one player. He challenged Hardik to give him in writing that he would never play red-ball cricket.
“Is Hardik Pandya from the moon? Why are the rules different for players? The BCCI should scold him with instructions of playing in all formats. He hasn’t played 60-70 Tests. India need him and he should be ready for Test cricket,” Praveen Kumar said on Shubankar Mishra’s YouTube channel.
“Can he give in writing that he will not be a part of Test cricket? The BCCI is at fault. You can’t have different rules for different players. If there is an injury concern, the board should reveal it. Hardik should be informed that he will be considered for T20 cricket and one-day internationals.”
Hardik played his last Test match and Ranji Trophy game in 2018, and since then, he has yet to show interest in the longest format.
Hardik will lead Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League 2024. He recently joined the pre-season camp after recovering from his ankle injury.
