MS Dhoni is renowned for backing players. Rohit Sharma is the prime example of Dhoni’s success as a captain. He promoted Rohit to open the innings in white-ball cricket, and the rest is history. However, Manoj Tiwary is among the few cricketers who accused the legendary skipper of destroying his international career.
Tiwary recently retired from first-class cricket and has made big statements since then.
He urged the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to scrape the Ranji Trophy, leading to a 20 percent fine from his match fee.
In another statement, he has compared himself with Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma to hit out at Dhoni.
In 148 first-class matches, he crosses the 10,000-run mark for Bengal. He represented India in 12 ODIs, scoring 287 runs with the help of one hundred. He was not considered for a long time when Dhoni was the captain. Tiwary returned to the Playing XI under Ajinkya Rahane’s leadership in 2015.
The right-handed batter also played in three T20Is but didn’t do anything impressive.
In his conversation with Medal, Manoj roasts Dhoni. “I was talented like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma but was not backed by MS Dhoni. A lot of young players are getting several opportunities to prove themselves, which was not the case during my time. It makes my sad,” Manoj Tiwary said.
