Excitement builds as Yuvraj Singh to lead Babar Azam, Rashid Khan in Legends Cricket Trophy
Legendary Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh is set to captain New York Superstar Strikers for the upcoming edition of Legends Cricket Trophy (LCT) season 2.
Known for his heroics in the 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 ICC World Cup, Yuvraj will lead a team that includes notable superstars like Babar Azam, Kieron Pollard, Rashid Khan, Imam Ul Haq, Naseem Shah, Matheesha Pathirana, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Asif Ali, and Mohammad Amir.
The former Indian vice-captain strengthens the New York Superstar Strikers’ squad with his expertise, skill, and leadership, gearing up for the upcoming tournament. The announcement of Yuvraj’s leadership role has sparked excitement among fans and enthusiasts worldwide for the Legends Cricket Trophy Season 2.
The franchise is confident that Yuvraj’s extensive experience and skill will significantly boost the squad’s performance in the 90-ball format tournament.
“Yuvraj’s inclusion enhances the team with extensive knowledge, talent, and leadership, strengthening the New York Superstar Strikers’ preparedness to take the lead in the next tournament,” the franchise said in an official statement.
The upcoming tournament in Kandy, Sri Lanka, from March 7 to 18 will feature a unique 90-ball format. Last year’s season in Ghaziabad, played from March 22 to March 30, was in a 20-over format.
Looking back at the first season, the final in Ghaziabad was washed out, and Indore Knights and Guwahati Avengers were declared joint winners. Now, in Season 2, there’s a twist with the LCT 90-ball format. Each team’s five bowlers can bowl three overs each, and by the 60th ball, the captain can choose one bowler for an additional over.
