This pretty country is not a major tourist destination but it’s home to stunning scenery and a peaceful atmosphere. You’ll find this small country nestled between Switzerland and Austria.

With an area of just 62 square miles, it’s one of the world’s smallest nations but despite its size, its beauty makes for an incredible holiday. Liechtenstein is a hidden gem in Europe and a destination people often neglect to visit. Its capital, Vaduz, is home to the royal family and it offers a glimpse into the country’s unique blend of modernity and tradition. The scenic country is home to alpine landscapes, medieval castles and a vibrant cultural scene.

According to Statista, the country sees just over 100,000 tourists a year.

One must visit place is Vaduz Castle which is visible from far and wide. The castle was first built some 700 years ago and is a popular spot for tourists to visit.

One visitor wrote on TripAdvisor said: “You can only see the castle from the outside, but if you see it from above, it’s a fantastic view with a nice background. 

“We drove the car up past the castle and parked just above it. From there we got great pictures of the castle with the snow-topped Alps in the background.”

If you’re feeling adventurous, another place to visit is the Sareis Chairlift, which offers you incredible views of the surrounding scenery.

Liechtenstein is known for having a high GDP per capita, and its economy is highly industrialised and diversified.

If you’re looking for somewhere off the beaten path to visit, Lichtenstein is a unique location and one you might not have thought about visiting before.
