We’re very fortunate in the UK to have so many amazing seaside towns that boast breathtaking coastal views. More and more people are opting to ditch trips abroad to visit coastal resorts across the nation.

A new study from Haven has revealed the UK’s favourite seaside locations and the winner comes as no surprise. St Ives, in Cornwall, has been compared to Malibu due to its immaculate beaches and clear waters. The town lies north of Penzance on the coast and is filled with natural beauty and things to do.

Two of the most popular beaches in St Ives are Porthmeor and Porthminster. The former is loved by surfers for its huge waves while the latter has calmer waters making it ideal for swimming.

Meanwhile, harbour beach is located in the heart of the town. It’s unique as it offers a bustling and busy atmosphere, right in front of the shops, pubs and cafes that line the harbour wall.

Aside from the stunning beaches, St Ives is famed for its traditional Cornish landscape. The tight and narrow cobbled streets make it the perfect spot for a stroll.

The town also has a thriving art scene with a number of galleries including the Tate St Ives. It features a popular rotating modern art exhibition.

St Ives has a number of glowing reviews on Tripadvisor. Visitors have praised the area for its great weather and natural beauty.

One said: “We all love St Ives and it’s always so much hotter and sunnier than anywhere. We got there quite early and had a good wander around all the side streets.

“The water was crystal clear and we sat right on the sand with a drink for an hour, just listening to the sea and the gulls. It does get busy but is still a gorgeous place to be.”

A second added: “We holiday here every year , it’s one of the most beautiful places in the UK.”

A third wrote: “Simply spectacular. It’s got everything that would get it best beach awards. If you get the weather, which we were lucky enough to do, there is no point in flying hundreds of miles. Staycation heaven!”
