South African batter Heinrich Klaasen is in sensational form. He was one of the most aggressive batters in the ICC World Cup in 2023 and is causing the same type of damage in the ongoing SA20. He slammed 74 in the eliminator for Durban Super Giants to take his franchise to the final.
He will play an important role against Sunrisers Eastern Cape in the final. Klaasen plays for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the Indian Premier League.
Eastern Cape bowling coach Dale Steyn was asked about the final, which is scheduled to be played on February 10.
Steyn lauded Klaasen and said that the South African batter will set IPL 2024 on fire.
“He is a wonderful batter. I think it will be exciting to play against someone like him in the final. You want to play against the best. It would be of no use if we got there and played against a team that doesn’t have good players. That would have made the contest boring,” Steyn said ahead of the final.
Steyn said that he would like to see Klaasen score big in the final but said that Eastern Cape should win the title, their second in two seasons.
“It would be great if Heinrich scores a 100 but ends on a losing side. That would be great to watch. It is great that we have him in Sunriers Hyderabad’s side. He would set IPL 2024 on fire. I can guarantee that. I am hoping tha he doesn’t go big against us in SA20 final. It is a matter of just one game.”
The Sunrisers Hyderabad have Aiden Markram, Klaasen and Marco Jansen, who are from South Africa. Travis Head and Pat Cummins are also part of the team.
