Rajasthan Royals head coach Rahul Dravid was pleased with the performance of the interim captain Riyan Parag in the Indian Premier League 2025. Sanju Samson was injured for most of the 18th season, and the team management appointed Parag as the leader of the team in the veteran cricketer’s absence.
Although cricket experts slammed Parag for his decisions during the matches, Dravid only had good things to say about the young player.
RR defeated Chennai Super Kings by six wickets in their last game of the ongoing edition, and Dravid was asked if Samson’s injury played a role in his franchise’s failure.
“Riyan Parag performed well as a captain. Although we missed Sanju Samson as a batter, Parag was brilliant in the middle. We lost five consecutive games from the day Samson got injured, and it impact us. Samson was batting superbly before he picked up an injury against the Delhi Capitals. He looked good in that game as well.
“This is one factor, but we can’t use it as an excuse. We came close in several games because of Parag’s captaincy. He was spot on. Hopefully, we will have a fit Sanju Samson next year to drive our season,” he said.
