IPL 2025 is set to restart on May 17 with the first game to be played between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Bengaluru have won 8 out of 11 matches and is second in the points table. Former RCB and India player Mohammad Kaif also think that the franchise can go all the way this season as they have a more balanced team than the last few editions.
The 44-year-old lauded captain Rajat Patidar for his inspirational leadership and hailed Virat Kohli’s batting performance. He also mentioned the important roles played by the bowlers.
“RCB have been fantastic as a team. I am using the word team because they have always been a batting-heavy unit, but this time, Rajat Patidar has done a good job of using his bowlers and restricting opponents while defending totals.
“Kohli has been continuing his batting form, but the bowlers have given them the belief that they can win the title. The franchise which is the best all-round side has the chance. So I believe they can win this year,” Kaif was quoted as saying by The Times of India.
RCB are one of the most popular sides in the IPL, and have been home to some of the big names in world cricket. They reached the finals in 2009, 2011, and 2016, but couldn’t cross the finishing line. RCB have been a part of the third-most playoff appearances, qualifying in the final four nine times. Chennai Super Kings (12 times) and the Mumbai Indians (10) are ahead of the Bengaluru and have won five IPL titles each.
