Fans and former player Ajay Jadeja slammed Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill for not giving enough credit to Vaibhav Suryavanshi for his sensational hundred in the RR vs. GT match in Jaipur. The 14-year-old scored a century, becoming the youngest batter to smash a century in the history of T20 Cricket.
Rajasthan completed the chase of 210 runs in 15.5 overs with eight wickets in hand. Vaibhav amassed 101 runs off 38 balls, with the help of 11 sixes and 7 fours. When Gill was asked about the performance of the young batter, he said that it was Vaibhav’s day. He didn’t say much about the young cricketer, leading to criticism from Jadeja.
The former batter was surprised by Shubman’s behavior and accused him of disrespecting the new sensation. When Gujarat defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 38 runs in their latest clash, Parthiv Patel, the batting and assistant coach of the Titans, spoke about Vaibhav. He disagreed with captain Gill’s statement.
“You can say that it was his day, but I haven’t seen someone playing like that before. We should give credit to him, but it shouldn’t carry forward. This is what we told our players after our defeat. It was important to admire his talent,” he said.
Meanwhile, Gill is the fourth-highest run-getter in the IPL 2025. He has amassed 465 runs in 10 matches. Sai Sudharsan (504) and Jos Buttler (470) are in the No.1 and No.3 spots in the Orange Cap standings.
