Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Capitals captains Ajinkya Rahane and Axar Patel suffered finger injuries during their teams’ match in Delhi. Patel went off the field in the 19th over when a shot from Rovman Powell struck his hand while he was trying to stop the ball. Although he scored 43 runs with the bat, the all-rounder never looked comfortable while playing shots.
On the other hand, Ajinkya suffered a finger injury during the 12th over of the Capitals’ run chase and didn’t return to the field, with Sunil Narine leading the side. After KKR’s 12-run win over DC, Axar Patel spoke to the commentators and didn’t sound confident of his recovery.
“I was hit on the finger, and skin came out. I was in a lot of pain when I tried to hit a shot during our run chase. If my injured finger heals on time, it will be good,” he said with disappointment written all over his face.
Rahane looked alright and was sure of playing the next game for the defending champions. “The injury is not bad, and I will be ok for the next game,” he said.
If Axar is ruled out, it would be a big blow for Delhi Capitals, as he has consistently performed well with the bat and ball. He has been magnificent as a captain as well.
