Virat Kohli broke his run of poor form with a stunning century against Pakistan in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Despite initial struggles, he found his rhythm and dismantled the Pakistan bowling attack, leading India to a crucial victory.
Kohli will be looking to continue his impressive form when India faces New Zealand on March 2 at the Dubai International Stadium.
If Kohli delivers another strong performance, he could break a couple of records in the Champions Trophy. He already has one century and five fifties in the tournament, and if he scores another fifty, he will become the first player to achieve seven fifty-plus scores in the competition.
Most Fifty Plus Scores In ICC Champions Trophy
6 – Shikhar Dhawan
6 – Sourav Ganguly
6 – Rahul Dravid
6 – Virat Kohli
5 – Joe Root
Kohli is also within striking distance of breaking the record for most runs in the ICC Champions Trophy. Currently, the record is held by Shikhar Dhawan with 690 runs from 10 matches. Kohli, with 651 runs so far, needs just 52 more to surpass Dhawan and claim the top spot.
Both India and New Zealand have already secured their spots in the semifinals, but the match still holds significance as the winner will top Group A.
There are reports suggesting that Rohit Sharma might be rested for the New Zealand game due to a hamstring issue he sustained in the match against Pakistan. If Rohit is sidelined, Shubman Gill is likely to lead India in his place.
