Injuries are piling up for England in the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Brydon Carse has been ruled out of the tournament due to an injury, and Mark Wood and Liam Livingstone suffered injuries during the game against Afghanistan. Wood’s injury looks serious as he left the field after bowling four overs. Although the right-arm pacer returned to bow another four overs, he looked in discomfort and was seen limping.
Jos Buttler didn’t use him after that, and it seems he will miss the last league match against South Africa. Liam Livingstone hurt his hamstring while stopping a ball and left the field. However, he returned and bowled the last over of the innings. The all-rounder took two wickets, but the sub-continent team managed to post 325/6 in 50 overs. Ibrahim Zadran amassed 177 runs off 146 balls, laced with 12 fours and 6 sixes.
Afghanistan were 37/3 at the stage, but Zadran and Hashmatullah Shahidi (40) added more than 100 runs to bring their team back into the contest. The finish was provided by Azmatullah Omarzai, who scored 41 runs off 31 deliveries.
Mohammad Nabi was more aggressive as he managed 40 runs off 24 deliveries, including 2 fours and 3 sixes.
