admin February 9, 2025 ArticleAn Italian city has been labelled as the best February getaway destination by a major travel company.
The northern city of Turin is ranked by TUI Musement as the number one destination for those looking to get away this month, ahead of several more famous city break locations.
La Citta della Mole was one of four Italian cities in the top 10, beating Milan, Venice and Rome to claim the top spot.
The city, best known for its historic football team Juventus and the birth of Lavazza coffee, has plenty to offer potential visitors, from the panoramic views atop the Mole Antonelliana to its wide-open green spaces along the River Po.
Nestled at the foot of the Alps, the city is a popular base location for a trip to the many Italian ski resorts less than 90 minutes away by car. It’s also often overlooked by tourists from the UK and the US.
The German capital Berlin secured second spot, thanks to its mix of eclectic culture and history.
Berlin was once the meeting point of east and west during the Cold War, as the Berlin Wall marked the location at which the two superpowers locked horns with one another. Nowadays, the remnants of the Berlin Wall serve as one of Europe’s most impressive tourist attractions, as visitors flock to locations such as Checkpoint Charlie.
Amsterdam completes the top three, as the Dutch capital, beats off competition from storied Italian cities Milan and Rome.
The city attracts a wide variety of tourists, from youngsters looking to soak up the famous nightlife and café culture to those looking to experience the vast history told by the abundance of historical sites and museums.
Barcelona makes it up to sixth, narrowly beating London in seventh place and Icelandic capital Reykjavik in eight.
The French city of love Paris is in ninth whilst the Italian canal city of Venice completes the top 10.
The new survey shows 34 per cent of couples specifically seek holidays that create lasting memories together, underpinning the findings and the selection of those that make up the top 10.
Short-haul destinations remain particularly popular for romantic breaks, with 53 per cent of new couples preferring these locations.
