Ravindra Jadeja is the only Indian players who has performed well in the ongoing Ranji Trophy matches. The veteran took 12 wickets against Delhi, showcasing his talent in the sub-continent conditions. Playing for Saurashtra, he didn’t allow the rivals to settle down and dismissed five batters in the first innings. Jadeja was not done yet and claimed seven wickets in the second essay, including the prized scalp of Rishabh Pant. The wicker-keeper batter had an ordinary outing as he amassed 1 and 17 across both innings.
Jadeja was not among the top performers against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. He couldn’t justify his selection and some of the former players urged the national selectors to remove him from the Test squad. With the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) making it mandatory for the players to play Ranji Trophy games, Jadeja agreed to play for Saurashtra. His 36th five-wicket haul in first-class cricket has proved that he is irreplaceable at home.
On other hand, Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shreyas Iyer registered low scores for Mumbai. The trio couldn’t score runs across two innings in front of J&K bowlers. Shubman Gill, who is a part of Punjab’s squad, posted a below-par score against Karnataka.
