The African city and safari hotspot where flight searches have doubled | World | News
admin January 6, 2025 ArticleAn African city has been named one of the most trending destinations for 2025 as searches skyrocket.
Interest in the area has nearly doubled, with travel experts at KAYAK stating that there’s been a 93% increase in flight searches for 2025 versus 2024.
Harare is the capital of Zimbabwe and home to landscaped gardens, the country’s National Gallery, and the unusual granite formation Epworth Balancing Rocks located just outside the city.
The region is also a popular safari destination, as around the city lives a plethora of wildlife, such as zebras and giraffes that roam through the Mukuvisi Woodlands. The area also has bike paths and a bird park.
Sarafi Frank reports that Harare’s most affluent neighbourhoods are to the north, including Borrowdale, where there are new shopping centres.
The site adds that, while it’s tempting to rush off to your safari, it is well worth hanging around in the city to sample its dining, museums, craft markets and varied bars.
It comes as KAYAK says that safaris in Zimbabwe, alongside surfing in South Africa, and spiritual retreats in India, are examples of adventures that Brits are longing for, according to new data from its search engine.
The figures analysed flight searches on the site, and revealed that eight of the top ten trending travel destinations for summer 2025 are located outside of Europe.
Zimbabwe took the top spot.
Further underscoring this trend, KAYAK surveyed British travellers on their summer holiday plans this and found that almost one-third (28%) of Brits have already explored Europe and are now wanting to head further afield, and 9% even saying that they find European holidays “boring”.
Rachel Mumford, KAYAK UK Travel Expert, said: “Going long-haul is always exciting.
“Whether you’re heading to Australia for the beautiful long beaches, or going off the beaten track in South East Asia, experiencing something new and different to home is the ultimate adventure
“2025 is shaping up to be an ideal time to tick long-haul dream destinations off your bucket list without breaking the bank, with airfare prices currently dropping to iconic destinations like Australia, Japan, and Indonesia.
“Coupled with favourable exchange rates, travellers could enjoy even greater value for their money while exploring these incredible locations.”
