Former India cricketer Vinod Kambli has been discharged from the hospital after a two-week treatment. The 52-year-old left the hospital at around 4 PM. Kambli was admitted to Akruti Hospital on December 21 and the doctors found clots in his brain.
Kambli appealed everyone to cut down on their alcohol consumption and leave narcotic drugs, saying that these things can destroy lives. Dr Vivek Trivedi declared the veteran cricketer fit but told him to take precautions.
A clip of Kambli donning a Team India jersey and wielding a bat went viral on social media. Kambli also danced in the hospital.
Kambli thanked his friends and fans for supporting him during the tough times.
“I will never leave cricket because I can still recall my hundreds and double hundreds,” he had said.
Kambli’s health is down for a long time and he recently met Sachin Tendulkar. The two attended a function honouring their childhood coach, Ramakant Achrekar.
Sunil Gavaskar and Kapil Dev came forward to help Vinod Kambli. Speaking to India Today, Gavaskar expressed his desire to help the ailing cricketer.
“The young players are like my grandsons and sons. We want to take care of him (Vinod Kambli).” Kambli represented India in 17 Tests and scored 1084 runs at an average of 54. He was a part of 106 one-day internationals.
