Aakash Chopra has slammed the Pakistan Cricket Board for trying to take the ICC Champions Trophy to Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (POK). Pakistan will host the global tournament, and the board’s attempt to create controversy was stopped by the ICC after the BCCI lodged a complaint.
“Why are you doing such things? Some people are saying that India is wrong for refusing to play in Pakistan. They have Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore, Rawalpindi and Multan and could have taken the trophy to these cities, but they don’t were more interested in some areas of POK. This was intentional, as you want to legitimize that everything is yours,” he said.
Aakash further said that Pakistan’s move justified why India shouldn’t send their team.
“The trophy tour to POK justifies India’s move of saying no to their matches in Pakistan. I have heard that a dossier is being prepared that highlights the terror attacks that have happened in Pakistan and how many Pakistan-sponsored attacks have taken place in Kashmir,” he added.
‘We have been impacted, and our players are going to be prime targets if they travel to Pakistan. We don’t believe that Indian players should go there,” he mentioned.
“India understands that you are using Champions Trophy to legitimize your hold on POK. India have every right to say that we don’t agree with you one bit,” he concluded.
