If you’re thinking of planning a last minute trip to Spain in the near future, you might want to check the weather forecast first.

That’s the advice of one Brit, who warned potential travellers to “bring wellies” after his holiday was ruined by torrential rain and flooding. In a video shared to TikTok by Viral Vids (@viralvids_______), current scenes in Salou aren’t for the faint-hearted.

The clip, recorded in the the resort town – around 70 miles south of Barcelona – shows a street closer resembling a river with deep water flowing rapidly through the heart of a tourist hotspot. Those braving the conditions can be seen wearing ponchos and carrying umbrellas, with some standing almost knee-deep in rainwater.

With an emergency vehicle struggling to navigate the roads, Viral Vids penned: “Pack your wellies lads. Salou is underwater.”

“Literally in Salou right now and last night was crazy,” one of the account’s followers wrote in response. “Everything was flooded.” A second person echoed the sentiment, penning: “Last night was crazy! Went for a walk there and saw a massive tree blow down and it’s covering half the road now.”

A second Brit also took to the social media platform this week to share her experience of Salou, detailing a very similar outlook. Jess (@je55x) sarcastically asked in a caption: “How was your holiday? Salou floods.”

Her clip began with a close-up shot of herself looking drenched, before she panned her camera around the flooded takeaway and the street outside, with her feet submerged under water. Jess then headed out into the waters with shop owners seen closing their shutters in a bid to fend off any further damage.

After uploading “Part 2” of her predicament, she declared: “It was as bad as it looked. I have a one-year old child and I had to push my pram through this. It was really bad down by where all the shops are. Lots of places were flooding – they were sweeping the shops.”

She continued: “It was going so fast, the water. It was a little bit scary. But what can we do except laugh?”

Yesterday, meanwhile, it was reported Majorca received a hammering of rain causing flights to be delayed and cancelled, affecting hundreds of passengers. Palma Airport was also forced to suspend landings and take-offs for 20 minutes because of the adverse weather conditions, potentially devastating tourists seeking the last of the summer sun.
